Technical drawing version tracker
At GKN, there was a vast number of very large tiff files, all representing technical drawings for the various parts and assemblies manufactured and supported. Each part or assembly drawing could have many hundreds of revisions, each one had to be kept active and be easily asscessible.
Using a Visual Basic front-end, I developed a tool used by the technical documentation and engineering staff to search through the drawing store. It was estimated that in it's first year of use saved over £25,000 in time and won an internal award for departmental cost-saving.
